Privacy Policy for Scanly

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Scanly is a document scanner that runs entirely on your device.

Scanly does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on any server. There is no account, no analytics, and no advertising. Your scans never leave your phone unless you explicitly share or export them yourself.

Scanly contains no code that sends anything anywhere. Some Google libraries that ship as part of the Android camera stack include their own reporting components; Scanly never calls the features that would activate them.

What Scanly accesses, and why

Camera. Used to photograph the documents you scan. Camera frames are processed on the device and written to Scanly's private app storage. They are never uploaded.

Photos and media. When you choose “Import from photos”, the system photo picker lets you select images to turn into scans. Scanly only receives the images you pick. If you enable “Also save to Photos” in Settings, finished pages are written to your device's photo library — again, only on your device.

What Scanly stores

Everything Scanly creates lives in the app's private storage on your device:

Uninstalling Scanly deletes all of it. Nothing is backed up to us, because there is no “us” server-side.

What Scanly does not do

Sharing and exporting

When you share a scan, print it, or save it to your photo library, you hand that file to another app or service that you have chosen. What happens to it after that is governed by that app's own privacy policy, not this one. Scanly is not involved in the transfer beyond handing the file to the system share sheet.

Children

Scanly is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
